Happy August… Can you
say, “THE HEAT IS ON?” July has been a great/hot month. Lots of Pageantry, meeting new people, airport security, and no sleep! I guess you really don’t know what you are getting yourself into until you actually do it. I will start off this month by talking about one of everyone’s favorite subjects… he said she said I have first handed-ly witnessed this A LOT this past moth. “She should have won.”, “I heard so and so…”, “Did you hear about…” I know we all love to hear and talk gossip… but please, I beg of you… LEAVE ME OUT OF IT! I hear people telling me “so and so is a contestant’s room-ate or best friend”, or worse... “That judge hates me”. It is the responsible of Miss Gay America to closely watch the scores of the judges. If and I mean IF there is a discrepitensy with a judges score I will pull them aside and ask them why they scored so and so the way they did. If I get a valid answer then things are solved if not... Then there is a problem and things are taken care of. NEXT… I am tired of hearing that so and so should have won… she was the crowds favorite. Well ya know what, GOOD FOR HER. But unfortunately the crowd is not judging! The judges are selected to judge what they see, and the crowd may or may not know what they are being scored on. Also on that subject, the judges are not to be swayed by audience applause. Let’s say a for instance… Contestant # 2 has 3 busloads of fans cheering for her but falls in talent, rips her gown and drops her props for Creative… her friends are still going to cheer regardless of the problems. Contestant #1 on the other hand has no fans and has a pretty clean package with minimal mistakes… well sorry but #1 is going to win! The judges are selected to do a job and it is MY job to see that they do their job correctly, if not then MY job is on the line! There are lots more that I can say on this subject, but I will stop here … for now. We don’t have to like each other but we need to respect each other as humans, and stop worrying about who should have or who did what. NOW…back to a good note… Lets see where we left off and lets find out who the new contestants who have qualified for MGA 2003. First stop, Miss Gay Indiana, it was a huge success! Cleo had a few “BAR” problems but ended up handling everything the best he could and the pageant was quite a good one! Hats off to Erika Cartier did an incredible job during her farewell, and looked absolutely flawless! The Winner is Michelle Preston and 1st alternate Tonya Bear Rogers.
Miss Gay Oklahoma, again seeing Catia (with no fainting)
and Tiffany Bonet I love how all my sisters travel after they give up
their titles... I still have hope when my reign is over (fingers crossed).
Lyn and Donnie did an incredible job and were sooo hospitable! The best
part was a Champagne reception a few hours before the final night contest.
A sort of Meet and Great the entertainers and contestants with the
audience... a great idea, maybe something to do at MGA2003! A very
DRAMATIC win for Kris Kohl and 1st alt went to Raven Del Ray! Great job
girls, a very close pageant! With only a few hours sleep it was back at
the airport for another security check, and back in Little Rock for a few
shows, and the Miss Gay South Pageant!
Friday and Saturday shows were very good and as always it was great to see Dominique again. She loves to put the children through it! Saturday was a special treat to work with 1st alt to Miss Gay FL Raquel Chevalier, and 1st alt to Miss LA 2002, Dominique DeLoreon. Sunday was the big day and all the gals were ready! The pageant had 5 girls from across the country, all the girls did a great job and all should be proud of what they did, especially the newly crowned Miss Gay South Rachael Erikks, and 1st alt Victoria DePaula. Next stop... Kansas City with my good, good girlfriend REBA!!! It was the Miss Kansas City E.O.Y. America prelim and I got the chance to work with Miss MO Erica Leigh Foster and the Miss MO promoter Tumarra Mahorning! The girls worked it out and the pageant was a success!! I LOVE my REBA!!! And Allie Waye… can’t wait to see ya’ll again! Then 2 hours sleep and off to the airport for Miss Gay Arizona (you guessed it another bag search!) Miss Gay Arizona was very emotional and entertaining. Kudos to Angela Dodd on a great performance, it was great to see you and Hubby, and the DODD squad again! ALSO it was great working with former Miss AZ’s and the mistress of ceremonies Miss Southern Elegance Truly Fabu. And the winner is… Chane Jordan, and 1st alt Aurora Gayheart. With little to no sleep it was back at the airport and off to North Carolina… off the plane at 8:00p.m. and at the bar and in face ready to go by 9:15. Miss North Carolina was another HUGE success. The opening was awesome and one of the best productions I have seen in many years! It was yet another close pageant with 19 girls in attendance. Top 7 were announced final night and the winner was named Jennifer St. James with 1st alt. Honors going to Diamond. I was very happy to see my hubby surprising me by showing up at Miss NC. We drove home together and had a few days before I had to leave again! Next stop Miss PA; Alexxus did a great job with an all star cast… (Too many to mention) But I do remember the winner being announced POISON, and 1st alt Kitty Mame Dietrich. Way to go girls!!!! I will close here since I have run out of my allotted space and pick back up next month! Until next time…remember we are all in this game of life together! Can we at least TRY and get along?!?! All My Love... |
