All here
on the East Coast is going well… I have been staying at home, sewing some
new costumes and traveling to DC to perform at ZIEGFELDS on weekends. This past week we celebrated DC Capitol Pride and what a festive weekend!, then it was off to Miss Gay Mid-East Pageant, then running home to recover and get Ready for Baltimore Gay Pride weekend! SHWEW! Anywho… Backtracking just a bit for Miss Gay Mid-East… held Sunday June 9th in the star city, Roanoke VA. WHAT an incredible contest! There were 10 contestants total! Contestants ranged from Virginia, Massachusetts, Florida, Georgia, and DC. It was a very good contest from start to finish… winners of categories were announced and the winners are… 1st Alt. Lisha Paris (welcome back to America gal!) and congrats to the New Miss Gay Mid-East Ashley Adams ( on the road again!!) both these contestants will be on their way to Miss Gay America 2003 in Little Rock AR. So far I have to say that Miss America is looking up to be a pretty good year! Contestants are coming from near and far to be a part of the pageant this year! There are plenty more prelims coming up! (On a special note) The new website for Miss Gay America is up and running and I must say it looks FABULOUS!!!
There is no room in our system for sore losers… Obviously, the judges did not feel you had the overall package together in what we are looking for! Instead of being a bitter person and trying to blame everyone from your dresser to your dancers… look at what you have presented to the judges… and ask yourself if you have honestly done the best that you could have done? THEN… Talk to the judges and see what they say… many times judges are not there to criticize you, only to tell you what you could have changed, and/or what you have NOT done to get all the points needed for that category! Take all this WISDOM in and then get ready and prepare for the next contest! There is no room for Bitterness in our system! If you can not lose gracefully, how can we expect anyone to win gracefully, and still remain humble! Often times a lil humility (a slap in the face) is what we need to get ourselves ready for the next competition and be as strong as we possibly can be! With all that said and done… the next Prelim is Coming up June 16th Miss Central States! This is sure to be another great contest!! And I look forward to returning to Kansas City, and working with David Miller! Until next time… take care of yourselves and remember… Only 4 months remain before MGA 2003!! (My year is 2/3’s over, and I still have lots of prelims… July and August are looking up to be sleepless months…) All My Love... |
